Nathaniel Tucker painted a number of portraits in the 18th century. In Sheffield he painted numerous portraits between 1665 and 1680. He also painted the Last Supper for the parish church.

The National Portrait Gallery holds engtaved prints after his originals, One of these is the quirky WILLIAM FITTOCK MAYOR OF ST MAWES. In this picture ( a print  was sold by the Lander Gallery) the subject has a view of the coastline behind him which suggests that the artist must have visited Cornwall.

A modern label named the sitter as JOANNA POYNTZ married Sir James Dance Bt, painted in Jamaica c 1770.
