In this characteristic harbour scene the quay steps are prominent while the buildings are shadowy.

We see the sterns of boats moored up, yet at the same time these sterns form the side of another vessel which is sideways facing to the right.

Tony Giles did not always give titles to his paintings. In order to distinguish between pictures on similar themes, the title has been given to this picture by the Lander Gallery.

For further information on the life and work of Tony Giles see John Branfield, TONY GILES: PAINTER OF CORNWALL'S MAN-MADE LANDSCAPE, Mingoose Books.
