George Fagan Bradshaw was one of the outstanding artists of the St Ives community.
He had a career as a naval officer. Born in Belfast, he was educated at HMS Britannia, Dartmouth and was a submarine captain.
He learned his art at St Ives and Malta. He was a founder member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists. Bradshaw exhibited with the St Ives Art Society, the Royal Academy and the Royal Scottish Academy. Sunderland Art Gallery holds his work. His wife was Kathleen Bradshaw, also an artist. They lived at the Ship Studio, St Ives. His life is well documented in GEORGE FAGAN BRADSHAW-SUBMARINER AND MARINE ARTIST-AND THE ST IVES SOCIETY OF ARTISTS by David Tovey, published by Wilson Books.
